Vinyl Siding is any flat roofs nightmare. Vinyl siding is a decorative siding and will not seal flashing against a wall. When installing a flat roof, flashing against a wall is critical. It is not good practice to install flashing or bring the membrane up behind the vinyl siding.
Then there is the transition of the vinyl siding to the gable boards and windows. Everywhere the siding ends, it allows for water to penetrate.
Then there is flashing. Most roofing contractors have no ideas about how to attach a rubber membrane to copper flashing. Most of the time, a roofer will bring the rubber membrane up behind the siding. That is fine unless you have vinyl siding, then it will definitely leak.
One solution to this problem is to use Turbo Poly Seal to seal the flashing against the plywood wall behind the siding.
Steps to install Turbo Poly Seal to secure the flashing and siding:
1. Remove the vinyl siding approx. One course up from the roof.
2. Nail down the flashing to the plywood
3. Apply one coat of Turbo Poly Seal over the transition from the metal flashing to the plywood
4. Install the Polyester fleece over the Turbo Poly Seal
5. Apply one more coat covering the entire fleece
re-install the vinyl siding
