Chimney Caps or Crowns will crack and cause leaks over time.
Follow the steps on how to waterproof a chimney.
1. Remove the Squirrel Cage that is over the Flu-pipe
2. Use a wire brush to brush off loose debris and cement
3. Use masking tape to tape off the brick or stucco below the crown
4. Apply 1 coat of Turbo Poly Seal with a disposable brush
5. Measure and cut a Polyester Fleece and install it into the freshly painted sealant to cover the corner of the cap
6. Apply a top coat of Turbo Poly Seal over the Fleece
7. Make sure to coat the entire chimney cap sealing around the Flu pipes

We use Turbo Poly Seal which is a polyurethane-based product that is easy to use and will outlast any caulking or cement grout. It consists of Polyurethane and Bituminous resins and is applied in conjunction with a POLYESTER REINFORCING FABRIC.
The Turbo Poly Seal and fleece together make a super-strong seal over any cracks on a chimney and the flashing. No matter what the chimney is made of, Turbo Poly Seal will adhere to cement, concrete, metal, asphalt, and glass.
You can be sure to waterproof a chimney and never have to come back to do it again.
Warning, when your chimney is tied to an EPDM Rubber Roof and is leaking where the two meet, then don’t use Turbo Poly-Seal to make the repair. Turbo Poly Seal is not compatible with EPDM Rubber.
