Transition Flashing on Mobile Home Roofs
The most common source of leaks occurs where a carport or room is attached to a mobile home. The transition between these two structures is challenging to seal properly and often results in leaks.
In this video, we demonstrate how to correctly make that transition from a room or carport to the main roof.
There are over 12,000 Mobile homes in and around Altoona.
We also demonstrate how to use a rubber membrane to cover part of the roof.
Turbo Poly Seal is the recommended Product for the transition between metal and asphalt rubber Roofs.

Proper Preparation for Resealing an RV Motor Home, Camper, or Mobile Home Roof, Altoona, PA
When it’s time to reseal your RV, camper, or mobile home roof, preparation is the most crucial step to ensure a long-lasting seal.
Step 1: Remove Old Caulking
Start by removing all previously applied caulking—especially around vents, seams, and any other roof obstacles. This is critical, as leftover silicone can interfere with the new sealant.
Step 2: Clean the Roof Thoroughly
Next, clean the entire roof using lacquer thinner. This step is important because when using an angle grinder, the heat from the bristles can melt old silicone caulking and smear it across the surface. Once smeared, the silicone can prevent the new sealant from properly bonding to the roof.
Step 3: Apply Super Silicone Seal
After cleaning, use a 2-inch disposable paintbrush to apply Super Silicone Seal around detailed areas such as vents and seams. Then, use a 9-inch roller with a 1/4-inch nap to evenly coat the entire roof surface.
Step 4: Reinforce Transitions with Polyester Fleece
For any transition areas—like where a vent, skylight, or flashing meets the roof—you must use polyester fleece, as shown in the video. This adds strength and flexibility to those vulnerable spots and helps prevent future leaks.
